What we do

Since 2015, Human Nature has been dedicated to providing innovative, nature-based mental health support for young people aged 14-20 who are experiencing significant mental health challenges and trauma.

About us

For the past 14 years, our commitment to transforming the lives of young individuals across the Far North Coast of NSW has remained steadfast. Through our pioneering nature-based mental health programs, we have provided a platform for these youth to embark on a journey of genuine transformation. Rooted in innovation, our approach and mental health service for young people have yielded remarkable results, catering to those who are often excluded from or not deriving benefits from traditional clinical services.

Our model of care has been honed through years of experience and rigorous development. It thrives as an exceptional alternative for young people who may not have access to or find resonance with conventional clinical interventions. By leveraging the healing power of nature and creating a nurturing environment, we empower these individuals to engage in an immersive process that cultivates growth, resilience, and holistic well-being.

At the heart of our efforts lies a commitment to youth mental health services that go beyond the norm. We are proud to have touched countless lives, sparking change and fostering hope in the hearts of young individuals who might otherwise have been left without effective support.

Our programs

Our evidence-based programs include therapeutic expeditions and overnight camps, group therapy and recreational activities, individual mental health sessions with professional psychologists or social workers and therapeutic mentoring with highly experienced youth workers.

Our people

Much of Human Nature’s success stems from our team’s innovation, curiosity and determination to do things differently. Our experienced psychologists, social workers and therapeutic mentors are backed by a dedicated administrative team who believe all young people should have access to mental health support that meets their individual needs.

Our impact

Engaging in conversation with any of our young participants unveils the profound impact that Human Nature has on every facet of their lives. These interactions serve as windows into the tangible transformation our programs and youth mental health service bring about.

Within the pages of our 2023 Impact Report, these stories come alive, showcasing the unwavering strength and innovative approach that define our youth mental health service and programs. Through firsthand narratives and concrete outcomes, the report stands as a testament to our dedication in creating a nurturing environment where young individuals can thrive.

As you delve into the report’s pages, you’ll bear witness to the real-world implications of our work—stories of empowerment, breakthroughs, and lives that have been reshaped. It’s an opportunity to tangibly grasp the pivotal role Human Nature plays in crafting a brighter future for the youth we serve.
