What we do

Since 2015, Human Nature has been dedicated to providing innovative, nature-based mental health support for young people aged 14-20 who are experiencing significant mental health challenges and trauma.

About us

For the past 13 years, we’ve been changing the lives of young people across the Far North Coast of NSW. Offering them the unique opportunity to engage in innovative nature-based mental health programs that are genuinely transformational. We’ve developed a proven model of care that works for those young people who aren’t able to access, or who aren’t benefiting from conventional clinical services.

Our programs

Our evidence based programs include therapeutic expeditions and overnight camps, group therapy and recreational activities, individual mental health sessions with professional psychologists or social workers and therapeutic mentoring with highly experienced youth workers.

Our people

Much of Human Nature’s success stems from our team’s innovation, curiosity and determination to do things differently. Our experienced psychologists, social workers and therapeutic mentors are backed by a dedicated administrative team who believe all young people should have access to mental health support that meets their individual needs.

Our impact

You only need to chat with one of our young people to understand Human Nature’s impact on all aspects of their lives. We share their stories and more in our 2021 Impact Report, so you can read for yourself the strength and innovation of our programs

Acknowledgement of country. We acknowledge and show respect for the Nyangbul people of the Bundjalung Nation - original people of the land on which we are based. We respectfully acknowledge the ancient cultural presence in the Australian landscape by First Nation people and their ongoing traditional and spiritual custodianship of the bush, rivers, lakes, beaches, marine areas and mountains that we venture into in our work.

Child Safety Statement of Commitment. All children and young people have a right to feel safe, and to be safe at all times. Human Nature will not tolerate any abuse or neglect of children or young people involved with our services. To read our full Child Safety Statement of Commitment click here.
