A transformative path forward for young people

We recognise the challenges that parents and carers face when witnessing the young people they care about navigating difficult situations. At Human Nature, we stand as a beacon of hope, offering flexible and engaging therapeutic support tailored explicitly for youth mental health. Our comprehensive resources and information about youth mental health for parents and carers are designed to support navigating these challenging times, ensuring they have the tools to address mental health challenges and trauma in their teens effectively.

What sets our programs apart is the remarkable engagement rate, which hovers close to 100%, a distinction that might differ greatly from past therapy experiences your child may have had. Our achievement is grounded in a holistic approach encompassing psychological, emotional, developmental, and physical dimensions. Our qualified therapists and mentors extend support in various non-clinical settings where comfort and safety are paramount. We endeavour to infuse nature and outdoor experiences, fostering an environment conducive to opening up, forging connections with peers, oneself, and the therapeutic assistance we provide. With a commitment to youth mental health, we’re dedicated to guiding your child toward a path of resilience and well-being.

To be eligible for our services young people must be:

  • 14-18 years old
  • residing in the far north coast of NSW
  • unable to engage with more clinical, office based therapeutic support
  • presenting with significant challenges (e.g. trauma, addictions, mental health issues, social problems, behavioural difficulties or family conflict/breakdown)

Human Nature is not a crisis response service

For mental health emergencies, please call the Mental Health Line 1800 011511. The Mental Health Line is available to everyone in NSW and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Emergencies:

If someone has attempted or is at immediate risk of attempting to harm themselves or someone else, call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Or go to a hospital emergency department, where they may refer you to a mental health service.

Explore our programs focused on youth mental health, and access supplementary information tailored for parents and carers.

If a young person referred to us can’t afford to pay, we can provide places at low or no cost. This is made possible by our generous donors and supporters.

There are limited places in our programs, and demand grows every day. Currently, we are prioritising those young people who have not had success engaging with other services in the region. The services below should be your first stop if a young person in your life needs support.

Always call 000 if you or a young person are in danger.
