Andy Hamilton
Andy Hamilton is a Psychologist with over 20 years experience of working in the youth mental health, drug and alcohol and justice fields. Together with Graham Pringle Phd, a specialist in Adventure Therapy, he created our signature Recre8 Program in 2008 – combining the best aspects of outdoor education, experiential and embodied learning with evidence based therapeutic practice. This became the cornerstone of Human Nature Adventure Therapy, which he established as a charitable organisation in 2015 to support the delivery of our therapeutic programs.
Andy has a unique depth and breadth of experience working primarily with so-called ‘difficult-to-engage’ adolescents and traumatised young people. He is passionate about facilitating transformation and healing in young people, and feels that innovative, collaborative and multi-disciplinary approaches offer enormous opportunities for expanding the breadth and depth of great therapeutic work. He has previously worked in a variety of community sector roles including supporting people with severe psychiatric disability, in crisis, addiction, experiencing homelessness and juvenile offenders.
